Position Summary

The Web Developer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining Bensp Press’s digital platforms to ensure a seamless user experience and robust performance. The role involves collaborating with editorial, content, and technical teams to deliver innovative web solutions that support our mission of building informed communities worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

•           Develop, test, and deploy responsive websites and web applications that provide an engaging user experience across devices.

•           Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade web systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.

•           Collaborate with content creators, editors, and technical teams to integrate multimedia elements, interactive features, and real-time news feeds.

•           Optimize site performance for speed, usability, and SEO to increase audience reach and retention.

•           Implement best practices for web accessibility, usability, and security compliance.

•           Monitor and analyze website traffic and user feedback to suggest and implement continuous improvements.

•           Stay updated on emerging web technologies, tools, and trends relevant to digital news media.

•           Document technical specifications, workflows, and maintenance procedures.

Required Qualifications

•           Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

•           Proven experience (3+ years) as a web developer, preferably in media, technology, or related sectors.

•           Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Vue.js.

•           Experience with back-end development using languages such as PHP, Python, Node.js, or similar.

•           Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and API integrations.

•           Strong understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web performance optimization.

•           Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).

•           Experience with database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL).

•           Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

•           Experience working in a high-speed media or news environment.

•           Knowledge of cloud-based hosting and deployment platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

•           Familiarity with SEO best practices for news media websites.

•           Ability to work with UX/UI designers to implement user-friendly interfaces.

•           Understanding of cybersecurity principles relevant to web applications.

•           Prior experience with data analytics tools to measure audience engagement.
