Position Summary

The Fact Checker will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, credibility, and reliability of all news content published and distributed by Bensp Press. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong research skills to verify facts, identify errors, and uphold the highest journalistic standards across all media channels. The Fact Checker will work closely with editorial teams to maintain the company’s reputation as a trusted news source.

Key Responsibilities

•           Verify factual accuracy of all news articles, reports, scripts, and multimedia content before publication or broadcast

•           Cross-check data, statistics, names, dates, events, and quotes using credible sources

•           Collaborate with reporters, editors, and content managers to clarify information and correct discrepancies

•           Maintain a comprehensive record of fact-checking queries and resolutions

•           Identify potential misinformation or bias and raise concerns promptly

•           Assist in training newsroom staff on fact-checking protocols and standards

•           Stay updated on current events and trusted information sources relevant to Bensp Press’s coverage areas

•           Suggest improvements to fact-checking processes to increase efficiency and accuracy

•           Support the editorial team during breaking news to ensure speed does not compromise accuracy

Required Qualifications

•           Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Information Science, or related field

•           Proven experience (2+ years) in fact-checking, editorial research, or investigative journalism

•           Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills

•           Strong ability to research and verify complex information quickly and accurately

•           Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•           Familiarity with various media platforms including digital, print, and broadcast

•           Commitment to journalistic ethics and impartiality

Preferred Qualifications

•           Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom environment

•           Knowledge of media law, copyright, and defamation issues

•           Proficiency in digital research tools and fact-checking software
