Position Summary
The Copy Editor at Bensp Press plays a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of editorial accuracy, clarity, and style across all news content. This position is responsible for reviewing, correcting, and refining copy to ensure that every story aligns with the company’s commitment to credibility and quality. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, a strong team player, and comfortable working in a professional, fast-paced media environment with flexible location and hours.
Key Responsibilities
• Edit and proofread news articles, features, and multimedia content for grammar, punctuation, style, and factual accuracy
• Ensure all content adheres to Bensp Press’s editorial guidelines, tone, and legal compliance
• Collaborate closely with reporters, writers, and editors to improve content clarity and flow
• Verify facts and data points to uphold newsroom integrity
• Coordinate with content managers for timely delivery and publication of edited content
• Support continuous improvement of editorial processes by providing constructive feedback and suggesting best practices
• Stay updated on media trends and language usage to ensure modern, relevant communication
• Maintain document version control and archive edited materials appropriately
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Copy Editor, preferably within a media or news organization
• Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and style nuances
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies or errors quickly
• Proficiency with editorial tools and content management systems (CMS)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a digital media environment with multi-platform content
• Knowledge of media law and ethical journalism standards
• Familiarity with equity-based compensation models and flexible work structures
• Additional language skills or international newsroom exposure are a plus
