Position Summary
The Accountant at Bensp Press plays a fundamental role in ensuring the company’s financial integrity by managing financial transactions, reporting, and compliance in a timely and accurate manner. This role supports the organization’s growth by maintaining meticulous accounting records, overseeing budgeting and reporting processes, and collaborating closely with leadership to guide financial decisions aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, reports, and summaries for management review.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial commitments to ensure operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with statutory tax, audit regulations, and accounting standards applicable to media companies.
• Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other financial institutions as required.
• Maintain and update accounting systems and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial management with organizational goals.
• Uphold company policies related to financial controls and asset safeguarding.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 3 years proven experience in accounting or finance, preferably within media, publishing, or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with equity-based compensation accounting.
• Familiarity with audit preparation and tax compliance in Uganda or international reporting standards.
• Knowledge of budgeting tools and financial planning software.
• Understanding of media industry financial operations and revenue streams.
